Overview
Mem0 ("mem-zero") is an open-source memory layer for AI assistants and agents. It stores what users and agents say and do, then retrieves the relevant memories in later conversations, so an AI app can remember preferences and history across sessions. It comes as a Python and Node.js library, a self-hosted server with a dashboard, or a managed cloud platform.
What it does well
Mem0 keeps memory at the user, session and agent level. Retrieval combines semantic search, BM25 keyword matching and entity linking, and it is time-aware, so questions about current state or past events get the right dated memory. The self-hosted server adds a dashboard, authentication and API keys, and a CLI lets agents add and search memories directly.
Why it’s in the collection
Mem0 solves a problem almost every AI app runs into: forgetting everything between conversations. You can start with a pip install and later run your own server, and the benchmark framework is open source, so its accuracy claims can be checked.
