Overview
ntfy (pronounced "notify") is a simple, open-source, HTTP-based pub-sub notification service. You can send notifications to your phone or desktop from any script or computer with a simple PUT or POST request, without signing up or paying. You can use the free public server at ntfy.sh or host your own.
What it does well
ntfy has open-source apps for Android, on Google Play and F-Droid, and for iOS, plus a web app. Sending a notification can be as simple as a single curl command, which makes it easy to alert yourself when a backup finishes, a server is down or a job fails. Paid plans on ntfy.sh are available for people who don't want to self-host or want to support development.
Why it’s in the collection
ntfy is the easiest way to get a notification on your phone from a script: one HTTP request, no account and no SDK. It is dual-licensed under Apache 2.0 and GPLv2.
