Overview
Excalidraw is an open-source virtual whiteboard for sketching diagrams, wireframes and drawings with a hand-drawn feel. It runs in the browser at excalidraw.com and is also available as an npm package to embed in your own app.
What it does well
Excalidraw offers an infinite canvas with shapes, arrows, free drawing and shape libraries, and exports to PNG, SVG or its open .excalidraw file format. The web app adds real-time collaboration with end-to-end encryption, works offline, saves locally in your browser, and creates read-only share links.
Why it’s in the collection
Excalidraw is the quickest way to sketch an idea and share it, and its hand-drawn look keeps diagrams approachable. It is MIT-licensed, works without an account, and is embedded in many other tools.
