Overview
MailCheap is a newsletter app by Marc Lou: you write an issue, send it to your list and publish it on the web, from the dashboard or from an AI agent. The repository is the whole app. You can self-host it with your own Amazon SES or PostShiba account and pay only for the emails you send, or use MailCheap Cloud.
What it does well
MailCheap imports subscribers from beehiiv, Substack, Mailchimp, Kit, Ghost and others, gives each newsletter its own website, and sends from your own domain. Deliverability protections are built in: warm-up, automatic list and contact cleaning, bounce and complaint limits, and one-click unsubscribe. Everything in the dashboard also works through an MCP server and a REST API.
Why it’s in the collection
MailCheap charges for emails sent rather than subscribers kept, which makes a large list much cheaper. It is AGPL-licensed, and new (first released in October 2026).
