Metabase

Overview
Metabase is an easy, open-source way for everyone in a company to ask questions and learn from data. It sets up in minutes, connects to your databases, and lets people explore data without knowing SQL. You can self-host it or use the hosted Metabase Cloud.
What it does well
Metabase lets anyone ask questions with a visual query builder, and gives analysts an SQL editor for complex queries. It builds interactive dashboards with filters and auto-refresh, sends alerts and scheduled subscriptions to email, Slack or webhooks, and includes Metabot, an AI assistant for answering questions and writing queries. Teams can define metrics and transforms in its Data Studio, version work with Git, set granular permissions, and embed charts and dashboards in their own apps.
Why it’s in the collection
Metabase is the BI tool non-analysts actually manage to use, so data stops being a bottleneck for one team. The core is AGPL-licensed; its enterprise features are licensed separately, explained below.
License
Most of Metabase is licensed under AGPL-3.0. Code in the top-level enterprise folder is under the Metabase Commercial License and needs a paid plan to use. The free open-source edition doesn't include those enterprise features.
