Overview
OpenCode is an open-source AI coding agent that runs in your terminal, with a desktop app for macOS, Windows and Linux. It works with models from many providers, including Claude, GPT and Gemini, as well as local models.
What it does well
OpenCode includes two built-in agents you switch between with the Tab key: a build agent with full access for development work, and a read-only plan agent for exploring and analysing code that asks before running commands. It installs through npm, Homebrew, Scoop, Arch packages or Nix, and isn't tied to a single model provider.
Why it’s in the collection
OpenCode gives you the terminal coding-agent workflow without locking you into one AI company's models or subscription. It is MIT-licensed, very actively developed, and lets you pick whichever model fits the task.
