Overview
Pi is a minimal, extensible coding agent for the terminal that you adapt to your own workflow. It ships with strong defaults but deliberately leaves out features like sub-agents and plan mode, so you can add them yourself or install a package that does it your way.
What it does well
Pi can be customised with extensions, skills, prompt templates and themes. You can use it interactively, automate it in print or JSON mode, control it over RPC, or build apps with its TypeScript SDK. It connects to AI providers with a subscription or API key and runs on macOS, Linux and Windows.
Why it’s in the collection
Pi is a favourite of developers who want a coding agent they fully understand and control, and it is the agent harness behind other tools. It is MIT-licensed.
