Overview
Screenity is a privacy-friendly screen recorder and annotation tool that runs as a Chrome extension. It is made by a solo developer, Alyssa X, and also offers a paid hosted Pro plan with link sharing and more editing features.
What it does well
Screenity makes unlimited recordings of a tab, an area, your desktop, any app or your camera, with microphone or system audio. You can draw on the screen while recording, zoom in on areas, blur sensitive content, highlight clicks, use AI camera backgrounds, and cut, trim or crop in the built-in editor.
Why it’s in the collection
Screenity covers what most people need from a screen recorder, without limits or an account, and your recordings stay in your browser. It is GPL-licensed and can be self-hosted.
