Overview
Spacedrive is open personal data infrastructure: a local-first app that turns the storage you control, across your devices, drives, servers and clouds, into one private filesystem. It needs no hosted account and no vendor control plane.
What it does well
Spacedrive helps you find files wherever they live, reach them from another device, know what is backed up, recover earlier versions, share on your own terms and notice when something changes. It works across local disks, removable media, NAS storage and private servers, with optional AI agents.
Why it’s in the collection
Spacedrive is an ambitious attempt to give people the convenience of cloud storage while their files stay on hardware they own. It is Apache-licensed and built in Rust.
