Overview
Trigger.dev is an open-source platform for building AI agents and workflows in TypeScript. You write tasks in your codebase and deploy them to Trigger.dev's cloud or your own self-hosted instance, and they run as long as they need with retries, queues and observability.
What it does well
Trigger.dev runs tasks with no timeouts, unlike typical serverless platforms, and adds durable retries, queues, cron schedules, waits and human-in-the-loop approvals. Tasks can use system packages such as browsers, Python or FFmpeg. Realtime updates and React hooks stream progress and AI responses to your app, and every run has full tracing and logs.
Why it’s in the collection
Trigger.dev takes the hardest parts of background work, retries, long runs and visibility, off your plate while keeping everything in your own TypeScript code. It is Apache-licensed and can be self-hosted.
