Overview
WeKan is an open-source collaborative kanban board, MIT-licensed and self-hostable. You organise work into boards, lists, swimlanes and cards, and changes appear for everyone in real time. It runs on your own computer or server, with one-click installs for several platforms, and by default needs no separate database server.
What it does well
WeKan imports boards from Trello, Jira, Asana, Notion, Linear and many other tools, plus CSV, Excel and Markdown. Boards can be grouped into workspaces, and templates for boards, lists and cards can be shared. Colours and backgrounds can be set per board, swimlane, list or card, and the interface is translated into over 200 locales.
Why it’s in the collection
WeKan is the closest thing to Trello you can run yourself, under a plain MIT license. The import tools make moving existing boards over straightforward.
