Overview
AutoGPT is a platform for building, deploying and running AI agents that carry out complete workflows. You describe an outcome in plain English or design every step in a visual builder, then run the agent on demand, on a schedule or from a trigger. It is available as a hosted service or to host yourself.
What it does well
AutoGPT combines a chat interface that turns a conversation into a working agent, a dashboard of every agent run and its cost, a marketplace of ready-made agents, and a drag-and-drop builder for exact control over each step. It connects to more than 45 platforms and many AI models.
Why it’s in the collection
AutoGPT is one of the projects that started the AI agent wave, and its platform has grown into a full builder you can run on your own infrastructure. Its license has conditions, explained below, but the code is public and self-hosting is fully supported.
License
The AutoGPT Platform, the main product, is under the Polyform Shield License. You can read the code, host it and change it, but you can't use it to offer a product that competes with AutoGPT, so it isn't open source in the strict sense. The original AutoGPT agent and the rest of the repository are under the MIT license.
