Overview
Gogs is an open-source, self-hosted Git service designed to be as simple to set up as possible. It is written in Go and ships as a single binary for every platform Go supports, including Linux, macOS, Windows and ARM boards. A Raspberry Pi or a small cloud server is enough to run it.
What it does well
Gogs gives you repositories over SSH, HTTP and HTTPS, with issues, pull requests, wikis, protected branches, webhooks, deploy keys and Git LFS. It can migrate and mirror repositories from other code hosts, has a web editor, and renders Jupyter notebooks and PDFs. Sign-in works with SMTP, LDAP, a reverse proxy or GitHub with 2FA, and it runs on PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB or SQLite.
Why it’s in the collection
Gogs is about as light as a self-hosted Git server gets: it runs comfortably on tiny hardware and installs as one file. It is MIT-licensed, and Gitea started as a fork of it.
