Overview
Memos is an open-source, self-hosted note-taking app for quick thoughts. There is no title or folder to pick: you type, and the memo is kept on the day you wrote it. It runs from a single Docker container, with all its data in one folder.
What it does well
Every memo keeps its date, so you can find it again by scrolling, by calendar, by tag or by search. Memos are private until you share them, so family and friends can each keep their own. Notes export as plain Markdown, and a web clipper, a Telegram bot, an API and an MCP server connect it to other tools.
Why it’s in the collection
Memos is the lowest-friction way to capture thoughts on your own server, closer to a private timeline than a notebook. It is MIT-licensed.
