Overview
nanobot is a lightweight, open-source personal AI agent framework written in Python, developed by HKU Data Intelligence Lab. It runs in a web interface, the terminal or chat apps, and is designed around a small, readable core.
What it does well
nanobot connects to Telegram, Discord, Slack, WeChat, Feishu, email, Mattermost and Linear. It uses tools such as files, shell, web search, MCP and image generation, keeps long-term memory, delegates to subagents and runs scheduled automations. It exposes a Python SDK and an OpenAI-compatible API, and works with local models and any OpenAI-compatible provider.
Why it’s in the collection
nanobot is the personal agent to pick if you want to understand and customise every part of it: the core is deliberately small and readable, and it runs on your own machine or server. It is MIT-licensed.
