Overview
QuestDB is an open-source, low-latency time-series database built on open formats. It ingests millions of events per second, computes on live data in milliseconds, and keeps years of history queryable, with one SQL engine spanning ingestion, stream processing and tiered storage.
What it does well
QuestDB's engine is zero-garbage-collection Java with C++ and Rust on the hot paths, storing data in memory-mapped, time-partitioned columns and running queries across all cores with SIMD and JIT-compiled filters. Storage is tiered from a write-ahead log to native columns to Apache Parquet, and support for Parquet, Apache Iceberg and Apache Arrow keeps your data readable by other tools. You query everything with SQL; QuestDB Enterprise adds automatic tiering to object storage.
Why it’s in the collection
QuestDB delivers the speed that financial and industrial workloads need while keeping data in open formats, without lock-in. It is Apache-licensed.
