Overview
VoiceDesk is an open-source, white-label AI receptionist platform. It answers inbound phone calls around the clock, books appointments, takes messages, captures leads and routes callers, and you can inspect, customize and self-host all of it. Live calls require setting up a telephony carrier and AI providers.
What it does well
VoiceDesk handles real phone calls through Twilio or Exotel with LiveKit and voice models from Deepgram and Sarvam. It ships ready-made agent presets for dental clinics, restaurants, real estate, HR and support, a visual call-flow builder, and a dashboard with call tracking, transcripts and lead management. It runs locally on SQLite with no extra services, scales to PostgreSQL and Redis, or deploys to Cloudflare in one command.
Why it’s in the collection
VoiceDesk gives small businesses an AI receptionist they own, with their call data and credentials on their own infrastructure. It is MIT-licensed and still a young project.
