Overview
Windshift is a self-hosted work management platform for teams that want Jira's depth without its weight. It covers projects, epics, stories, sprints, backlogs, boards, roadmaps, custom workflows and dashboards, and includes an importer for moving off Jira.
What it does well
Windshift goes beyond issue tracking with service management (SLAs, queues and a customer portal), a knowledge base, test management, time tracking and an asset register. Filtering uses a JQL-style query language, automation rules handle routine updates, and it connects to GitHub, GitLab, Gitea and Forgejo. It ships as a single Go binary with SQLite by default or PostgreSQL, runs on anything from a Raspberry Pi to a server, and comes in nine languages.
Why it’s in the collection
Windshift is a young but ambitious project that replaces Jira and several of its paid add-ons in one small, self-hosted app, without per-user pricing. It is AGPL-licensed and easy to run.
