Overview
Puter is an open-source, self-hostable "internet computer": a desktop-like environment that runs in the browser and brings files, apps and games together in one place. You can use the hosted version at puter.com or run your own instance on Linux, macOS or with Docker.
What it does well
Puter gives you cloud file storage with a familiar desktop interface, plus an app store of web apps and games, from simple tools like a notepad and voice recorder to more advanced apps. For developers it provides building blocks to create and publish web apps, including AI, cloud storage and a database. It is designed to be fast and highly extensible.
Why it’s in the collection
Puter turns the browser into a personal cloud computer you can host yourself, keeping your files and apps in one place you control. It is AGPL-licensed.
