Overview
Onlook is an open-source, visual-first code editor for building websites and apps with Next.js and Tailwind CSS. You design visually with a Figma-like interface and AI, and Onlook writes real code in your project. Its team is also building a hosted product for AI-native designers, now in early access.
What it does well
Onlook creates a Next.js app in seconds, lets you edit it visually in the browser with a Figma-like UI, and includes development tools and one-click deploys. AI helps you build and change the app, and everything you make is ordinary code you can take anywhere. You can run it locally or self-host it.
Why it’s in the collection
Onlook bridges the gap between designing and coding: designers work visually and get real code instead of a locked-in site. It is Apache-licensed.
