Overview
Yaak is a fast, privacy-first desktop API client for REST, GraphQL, SSE, WebSocket and gRPC. It runs offline on macOS, Windows and Linux, and is built with Tauri, Rust and React. It has no telemetry, no VC funding and no cloud lock-in.
What it does well
Yaak imports collections from Postman, Insomnia, OpenAPI, Swagger and curl. It supports OAuth 2.0, JWT and Basic Auth, keeps secrets encrypted or in your OS keychain, and organises requests into workspaces, folders and environments. Workspaces can be mirrored to your filesystem to version them in Git, and plugins extend authentication, template tags or the UI.
Why it’s in the collection
Yaak is a lighter, local-first replacement for Postman that keeps your collections in files you control.
License
Yaak's code is MIT-licensed. The official app is free for personal use, but using it at work requires a paid license; that is how its development is funded.
