Overview
ActivityWatch is a free, open-source app that automatically tracks how you spend time on your devices. It is privacy-first: your data is stored locally and never uploaded to the cloud. It runs on Windows, macOS, Linux and Android.
What it does well
ActivityWatch records the active application and window title, whether you are away from the keyboard, the active browser tab through extensions for Chrome and Firefox, and the files you work on through editor plugins. You can group activity into categories, see where your time goes in dashboards, and add new data sources by writing your own watchers. It works as a productivity tracker, a screen-time monitor or a way to track work hours.
Why it’s in the collection
ActivityWatch gives you the insight of tools like RescueTime without sending a record of everything you do to someone else's server. It is MPL-licensed.
