OpenObserve

Overview
OpenObserve (O2) is a cloud-native, open-source observability platform for logs, metrics, traces, analytics, real user monitoring and AI/LLM observability. It is designed as a cost-effective alternative to Datadog, Splunk and Elasticsearch, and scales to petabytes. You can self-host it or use OpenObserve Cloud.
What it does well
OpenObserve brings logs, metrics, traces, frontend monitoring and dashboards together in one platform with a single binary that is easy to run. It stores data in Parquet columnar format on S3-compatible object storage, which the project says cuts storage costs by around 140 times compared with Elasticsearch. It includes alerting, SQL and PromQL queries, and support for OpenTelemetry; an enterprise edition adds more features.
Why it’s in the collection
OpenObserve gives teams full-stack observability with a fraction of the storage bill of traditional tools, in one easy-to-run system. It is AGPL-licensed.
