Overview
VictoriaMetrics is a fast, cost-effective and scalable open-source solution for monitoring and storing time-series data. It works as long-term storage for Prometheus or as a drop-in replacement for Prometheus and Graphite in Grafana. Both the single-node and cluster versions are open source, and companies such as Grammarly, Roblox, Wix and Spotify use it.
What it does well
VictoriaMetrics handles very high ingestion rates and large numbers of time series, even when old series are constantly replaced by new ones, with a small memory footprint and high data compression. It supports many protocols for scraping, ingestion and backfilling, and queries with both PromQL and its faster MetricsQL. It runs as a single binary or as a horizontally scalable cluster, and enterprise features and support are available separately.
Why it’s in the collection
VictoriaMetrics is one of the most efficient ways to keep large amounts of metrics for a long time, often at a fraction of the cost of alternatives. It is Apache-licensed.
