Overview
LanguageTool is open-source proofreading software for English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Polish, Dutch and more than 20 other languages. It finds errors a simple spell checker cannot. The core is open source and can run as your own server; LanguageTool also sells a hosted Premium service.
What it does well
LanguageTool checks grammar and style, not just spelling, across many languages. You can run your own LanguageTool server, use it through an HTTP API, or embed it from Java, and a Docker image is available.

LanguageTool is the multilingual option: few grammar checkers cover this many languages, and you can host the core yourself. It is LGPL-licensed.
